[edit]
Your account has been indefinitely blocked from editing because your account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia. Also, your username indicates that the account represents a business, organisation, group, or web site, which is against the username policy.

If you intend to make useful contributions instead of promoting your business or organization, you may request unblock and a username change. In your reasons, you must:

  • Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the paid-contribution disclosure requirement.
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
  • Provide a new username.

To do this, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked.

Please note that the new username you choose cannot already be taken and in use by another account. You can go here to search and see if the username you'd like to choose is available. If the search returns that no global account with that username exists, that means it is available to be taken.

Appeals: If, after reviewing the guide to appealing blocks, you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal it by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the page. Girth Summit (blether) 11:56, 18 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Look, I've got nothing against people affiliated with the harbour updating minor details like the names of committee members or particular office holders from time to time, but it's not OK for you to replace the lead with a chunk of text that looks like it was copied from a promotional brochure somewhere. If you want to contribute here, you are going to have to read and understand WP:COI and WP:PAID, make the necessary disclosure, and then make an unblock request by following the instructions at WP:GAB and requesting a new username. Going forward, you will need to make changes via edit requests on the talk page. Girth Summit (blether) 11:59, 18 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry - this genuinely wasn't intentional. We were just trying to bring the stats etc up to date as they were from 2009 in some instances and we were actually trying to enhance the info with more modern content and additional information on specific things that were already referenced. I can easily re-edit and resubmit. BelfastHarbour2023 (talk) 12:04, 18 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
{{unblock-spamun| :::JenniBelfast :::Your reason here}} i would like to update the outdated stats (tonnages, ferry passengers, cruise ships, freight, containers, bulk) and projects (City Quays and Titanic Quarter) and imagery detailed to make the content more relevant for 2023 and update the Board members. We also have a chairwoman now, not a man so that needs changed. I would just like to update all of the out of date sections.
Proposed opening -
Belfast Harbour is a major maritime hub in Belfast, Northern Ireland, handling more than 70% of Northern Ireland's seaborne trade and about 25% of the maritime trade of the entire island of Ireland. It is a vital gateway for raw materials, exports and consumer goods, and is also Northern Ireland's leading logistics and distribution hub.
The Belfast Harbour Estate is home to many well-known Northern Ireland businesses such as George Best Belfast City Airport, Harland and Wolff, Spirit Aerospace, Odyssey, Catalyst Inc, Titanic Quarter and Titanic Belfast. Over 760 firms employing 27,000 people are located within the Estate.
Belfast is only one of two ports on the island of Ireland to handle a full range of cargoes, from freight vehicles to containers, dry, break and liquid bulk, as well as passenger services and cruise calls.
Belfast Harbour handled 24.5 million tonnes of cargo during 2022, down 4.3% on 2021. The tonnages are an indication of the performance of the Northern Ireland economy.
BBC One Northern Ireland began a three-part documentary (4 parts when broadcast in 2022) on Belfast Harbour entitled Belfast Harbour: Cruises, Cranes and Cargo on 14 April 2020 examining the role of the Port of Belfast in Northern Ireland's economy.

Hi - this unblock request isn't formatted properly, so it won't appear in the requests queue. In other words, administrators won't see it, I only noticed it because I popped back to see if you'd responded to my earlier comments. I could reformat it for you, but I'm not going to because it's not acceptable in its current form - it doesn't address the reason why you are blocked. Your unblock request needs to do three things. First, you need to indicate that you have read and understood the guidance at WP:COI and WP:PAID. Second, you need to request a new username (which you have done, thank you - I see no reason why JenniBelfast would be problematic, although the person who responds to the unblock request will need to check to see whether that username is available so I can't 100% guarantee that you won't need to suggest an alternative. Third, you will need to indicate that you will not edit that article directly yourself, but will use edit requests on its talk page in future. This is not the time or place to make those edit requests - do that after you are unblocked.
With regards to the edit requests, when you come to make them, they will need to be supported by citations to reliable sources. In the suggestion above, you haven't provided any sources - it's unlikely that would be accepted. Don't worry about that now though - focus on the unblock request for the moment. Hi Girth, thanks for this and for taking the time to detail that out. We were just trying to bring the info on the page up to date and relevant to 2023. Could we request the deletion of the page please? Thanks in advance
Jenni BelfastHarbour2023 (talk) 08:48, 21 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
That's not entirely true, is it? You weren't just trying to update the facts and figures on the page - as I said, that isn't really a problem. You're blocked because you tried to re-write the lead in unacceptably promotional terms. You can't request its deletion while you're blocked; technically, if you were to be unblocked, you could nominate the article for deletion, but it would be a waste of time as there is no doubt that the subject is notable - there would inevitably be consensus for the article to be retained. If you want to contribute here, you are going to have to start by reading through the guidance I've given you links to, and making an unblock request that demonstrates that you understand what you may and may not do, and make the necessary disclosures. Once you have done that, you can start proposing changes on the article's talk page. Girth Summit (blether) 10:42, 21 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

I understand that I was blocked for using corporate/promotional language and I will not do this again.  Having read the available Wikipedia information around rules and the reasons for blocking, all I would like to do now is update out of date statistics and board members which I believe, and hope you agree are productive contributions and that a block is no longer necessary. My reasons for requesting the lifting of the block are that I would like to update the facts on the Belfast Harbour page including tonnages, passengers, cruise ship calls etc. I would also like update the names of Board members.  The citation for these would be the belfast-harbour.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/00965-02-Belfast-Harbour-AR-2023-Online-Spreads.pdf and news page - Belfast Harbour Belfast Harbour Posts Robust Financial Results for 2022 (belfast-harbour.co.uk) as well as media cover Belfast Harbour: Profit up and trade volume down at port - BBC News, Belfast Harbour reports growth in turnover and pre-tax profits for 2022 BelfastHarbour2023 (talk) 11:54, 21 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Your choice of new username is fine, but you don't seem to have done as Girth Summit requested; read WP:COI and WP:PAID, and agree to pursue edits via edit requests(click for instructions) on the article talk page. 331dot (talk) 05:41, 22 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

This unblock request indicates that this is a single purpose account. Their interest in only editing about their COI topic means that editor time will need to be spent to evaluate their edits. I think this time would be better spent by non-COI editors in improving their own articles of interest on Wikipedia. Z1720 (talk) 00:32, 4 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, I didn't realise I was registered as a single purpose account. I can see from the user name that that would be easy to determine but I have requested a user name change. I would actually like to be able to contribute more widely if unblocked as I have seen a number of updates I could helpfully make. I am not sure how I can improve and prove my intentions whilst blocked? I am happy to be a contributor and have each edit approved prior to publishing as I never intended to be in this position and would very much like it resolved with your help. Thank you in advance.
